Looking for outside opinions on which three cards to carry (I like to carry 2-3 and my wallet will only hold 3 credit cards plus a debit)
I have:
Chase Freedom Visa (10 + 10 checking combo, 5% back rotating categories)
Penfed Plat Cash Visa (5% Gas, .25% everything else)
Penfed Defender Amex (1.5% CB automatically)
BoA Travel Rewards Sig (1.5% back in form of travel credit)
NFCU CashRewards Sig (1% cash back)
USAA World MC (just terrible rewards - not an option only pay my USAA insurance with it 1x a month)
This should be clear cut easy choice - but I'm HATING PENFED's website and inability to show pending transactions. I check my statement every single day online - and it takes several days to post a transaction on my Penfed cards. Though getting 5% back off gas is amazing.
I was thinking:
Chase Freedom - Purchases under $10 and 5% rotators
PENFED AMEX - Purchases over $10 for 1.5% cash back/monthly
PENFED Visa - Gas only 5%
I'm also debating which checking/debit card to carry, LOL, between NFCU/USAA/Chase since I have no account fees on any of them. Just a matter of trying to keep things simple and effective!
I ended up going with (for now):
Penfed Amex - Everything minus gas
Penfed Visa - Gas
NFCU CashRewards - Backup AMEX & PENFED
NFCU Debit Card
My pay goes into NFCU. So for simplicity I will only have to really monitor 2 websites on a daily basis instead of 3-4.
Thanks to everyone who contributed and helped me realize this!
I think you made the right decision.
