Its thier CS really that bad? Thats disheartening. Also, if youre closing your oldest cards, wont this affect your age of accounts? Or does it take closed accounts into that score as well?
congrats

Their people on FB were great ...But I didn't even bother talking to the people on the phone number provided. They contacted me and were very nice from my experience.

You won't see any effect on AAoA until these fall off your CRs (~10 years for positive accounts)
CapOne is the next to go for me. I just dumped Care Credit and Discount Tire from GE. My total UTIL lost will be $15K. I will still have $60K+ left in credit. Not applying for any big loans and will have Chase, Citi, AMEX, Discover and CU left in portfolio. Barclays will get the axe also if they don't drop my APR.

Too many lenders out there to choose from to be unhappy with one. Feels good to be able to be selective rather than HAVING to accept any ole thing.
This is exactly how I feel. There are so many to choose from and so many that are treating me right...
I went through my time where I needed the subprime Capital One types and I went through my time where I was accepting every offer that came my way. Now it's time to trim the fat and enjoy the fruits of my labor.
I like my CapOne card - even if it's only secured still. I use it for little piddly stuff that I'd rather not use some of the other cards for. Sure, I pay $29/year for it but so what? Maybe when I get some nicer "prime" cards I'll feel different but I'm cool with it right now.
