Shell kind of played me

I am very confused and do not what to do or how to go about this. I applied for a Shell gas card because in the past I was an authorized user on a relative's account and I liked having that access for when I needed gas. They pulled Equifax and Experian the first time. I received an email on the June 30th to call in and verify some information. I did and the rep simply asked me to verify my address. After I did that she said I was approved for $300 which is fine since I need gas every 14 days or so. THEN i get a letter a week after saying after much consideration they cannot give me the card. Today I update my Credit Karma and it says Equifax started reported the account since July 9th and opened as of July 1st. I logged into Equifax dispute and saw it. I printed this out because I want to call them tomorrow. I called the automated system this afternoon and punched in my social and it says account active with available credit. I am so confused. What should I say when calling?  They pulled my reports on the day of the app and on the day I called in to verify my info so I am a bit ticked at that. I recently got a new Civic and that caused a lot of inquiries but I only have 2 Capital One's and 3 Comenity cards. My scores are in the low 600's according to their letter and from Cap1 Transunion. Will they delete the account from the credit report?

It sounds like the system generated a letter before you spoke with the rep. I wouldn't worry. It sounds like you got the card. Congrats.

Citi? Sounds like they were spooked by something or it was really a denial letter for non-store version of the card with the store version approved.

I am calling tomorrow to verify everything. I am just a bit confused and I threw out the letter and just said oh well.

Likely a timing thing with the mailings. You probably got the card.
