The reason the tone is different is because the context is different.
If you're rebuilding your credit then yes, you may need to explore EVERY opprotunity to get each and every 30 day late removed from your report if you can.
However, if you're established with a solid history and a nice lineup of credit then 1 30 day late is far from something to worry about.
If your payment history is clean other than that 1 30 day late from 3 years ago then I hardly believe it would be a deal breaker for any lender you might look to establish credit with.
The question to ask yourself is this IMO:
Is it worth the time and energy to attempt to get the one blemish which is probably not even causing me any issue removed from my CR or can I simply let it age until it falls off on it's own?
Actually, I just said give it up or if you feel wronged close the account on the other thread...
