Shopping Cart Trick

How does the shopping cart trick work?  How do I see if it will work for me?

I want to try and get furnitire from Crate & Barrell

Add something, anything, to your shopping cart, proceed to checkout, fill out your billing information, proceed to the next page if nothing popped up, if on the next page there's nothing still, no shopping cart trick for you.

You do not need to enter your CC info at any point. The shopping cart trick will offer something before allowing you to make a payment with a CC you already have in hand.

When entering your personal info like name, addy, zip code etc it MUST MATCH UP EXACTLY as it shows from your own Credit Reports.

Crate and Barrell is not one of the stores that it works at if I'm not mistaken.

I had to cold apply for both pottery barn and west elm and z gallerie

make sure you're opted in for prescreen offers.

Is there a way to find out whether or not your are opted in or out? I don't remember a specific time that I may have opted out, but I'd like to double check.
