Re: Shopping cart trick

From my experience playing with the shopping cart trick im guessing that the Total Rewards requires the highest underwriting standards to get the pre approval, then ones like Sportsmans Guide & Coldwater Creek and last the plain store cards.

They soft my EQ for all of these and I get the offers from Sportmans Guide, Coldwater Creek and all the stores like VS, Pottery Barn etc.

My EQ score is at 699. Im guessing you need around 720 score to get the Total Rewards pre approval so I dont get that one.

Ive never accepted any of these offers cause unless you are at the bottom range of acceptance for these I think even a B of A secured rewards card is better than one of these.

I can see these being of some use in rebuilding but I think alot of people will regret getting a whole bunch of them later on in their rebuild. When you get to a point that you want to apply for better cards I think it looks bad to underwriters when they see a dozen toy limit store cards.

Re: Shopping cart trick

Agree with much of what you are saying, but not all of the CLs given are toy limits.

Score: EQ(809) EX(819) TU(800)
INQs: EQ(7) EX(16) TU(8)
Last INQ: 13 Jul 23

For sure not toy!!!

Have you seen Ron!!

I got HSN for $1500

Vitacost MC for $1500

Now my first shopping cart tricks for Express and Buckle for $250 while yes are kind of toy, I at the time of approval was THRILLED with and they seem to have propelled me to some of these other... I applied for Pottery Barn ($2k, CLI instantly to $2800, and Bill Me Later $772 currently, have not tried to charge more) so for many the "in" is worth it's wait in GOLD!

and the only card that I got that I actually regret or have no use for is The Buckle.

Re: Shopping cart trick

you opt in as well right? I tried my husband's info and doesn't work eitherSmiley Embarassed

His profile was about the same as mine with longer AAOA

I wonder if we apply in store would it be SP?

I am never really interested in those store card but recently need a large purchase and want to get a sign up discount.

Also the total rewards one seems good to me too
