Now be prepared for the deluge of 'We want you back' emails. I canceled mine last week and I've gotten 3 already.
Haha, yeah I just got mine yesterday. What amazes me is they don't even offer anything to entice you, like maybe a no-interest period, AF waiver... some kind of bonus... nothing! I read the email, laughed, and clicked the delete button.

Really?
I just delete them without opening
I'm wondering how long before I receive a check on a return I forgot about after closing the account AND I expect 19.99% interest!

I have had my credit one card for 6 months and tried to cancel over the weekend. I ended up getting transferred to a "account specialist" who was even harder to understand because he sounded like he was really far away and tons of static. This "account specialist" basically lowered my APR to 18.99% for 6 months and even though I couldn't really hear him, he didn't give me a chance to talk. Basically stating I already paid the AF and to keep it open bc I need this card to build my credit. I hated my experience and in the end because I couldn't hear him to good I left it open. I wish i would of had the easy smooth experience as OP. I guess I wasn't firm enough I'm calling back today to try to cancel again. My fear is I just paid off my balance at the end of Feb/beginning of March so even though its a 0 balance now. I'm scared if I close it now that when my statement cuts on the 27th that interest will be added and reported on my closed account and I don't know how that will look on my CRs. They offered to mail me a letter that states my account is closed with a 0 balance and told me I don't have a pay off amount and can close it now but I just don't trust them. I just want to get rid of them! So congrats OP on the closing of your credit one card. Hopefully I can celebrate with you soon
Hi there. Sorry to hear about your experience with them. I guess I just got lucky, it was pretty smooth. I simply called up and said, "Hi, I'm thinking about closing my account" and the guy basically offered to close it, no questions asked. You'd think they would offer something to keep my business. It sounds like that's what happened to you, but I definitely think it's better to just close it out.
Regarding your zero balance, I think if you have it at $0 now before the statement cuts, there won't be any interest charged and it will stay at $0. I paid off my account a few days before I called to cancel and everything went smoothly. I think just to be safe, it's best to wait until you get the statement and it shows a zero balance. At this point anyway, it's not costing you to have the account open, so waiting another couple of weeks won't hurt. Looking at your signature, you seem to have some nice cards in there! You definitely don't need Credit One anymore. What I would do is just wait until the statement, then call them up and cancel. Don't even bother with some kind of special deal they might give you. You don't need them anymore, it's time to say goodbye to Credit One!
Best of luck!

499 easy payments and one COMPLICATED payment.
We ain't gonna tell you which payment it is, but one of these payments is gonna be a b****. The mailman will get shot to death, the envelope will not seal, and the stamp will be in the wrong denomination; good luck! The last payment must be made in wampum!
