Should I continue RECON Juniper?

I was denied a credit card a few days ago. I spoke with one guy and he said the fact that I have new credit history is the factor determining the denial. I spoke with another rep and he said it was because of excessive charge-offs and collections (1 BOA CO and 1 AFNI - Nextel). Should I give up or put the petal to the metal?
