So happy I bit the bullet and applied and was approved for a Discover It card!

[ Edited ]

It wasn't long ago my credit was horrid, high 500's(18 months ago) high utilization, lates. But since joining myfico.com, steadfastly getting my utilization down to 0-1% and on time payments for two years, I managed to get my ficos up to the high 690's. Rather than wait till the baddies fall off in a year and needing a rewards card now--I applied for a Discover IT card. I had to talk to a specialist becuase I'm self employed and the income stated (72k) But after the online app and calling the specialist, after a minute she said everything looks good and I was approved for 5k!

Happy becuase that's a good sign...my first credit limit over the highest card I have now, 2.4k, and even the 4k limit of the amex (lost that card due to too many lates 5 years ago)

I heard many of the top tier cards  like to see a credit limit of at least 5k, so after gardening for awhile I'll apply to those.
