Someone send the ERT now!!!!

My wife and my kids have been bugging me about getting a new desktop computer because my circa 2009 gateway computer finally gave out last week. A few days ago, Apple released a refreshed iMac line with the new Intel Haswell processors and new wifi 802.11ac standard just to name a few new features. I saw it, fell in love and proceeded to sneak through the garden, climb the wall, cut the concertina wire, lower myself with a makeshift rope made out of torn bedsheets, shoved a large garbage can with the bottom cut out through the electrified fence and used this as a small tunnel to escape. I completely ignored the fact that I have 35 inquiries on Transunion (thank you NFCU) and proceeded to apply for the Barclay's Apple Visa in the Apple Store to take advantage of the 18 month interest free financing. Now the 35 inquiries alone should have been an automatic denial considering Barclays is so inquiry sensitive but I figured what did I have to lose. If all else failed, I had $1000 cash on hand to make a down payment and would put the rest on my NFCU cash rewards card and finish paying it off by christmas. Outcome.....drum roll please......APPROVED FOR $2500 DOLLARS. I didnt stop there. I told one of the Apple employees to hold on because I was concerned about utilization so I was going to call the back door number and see if I could obtain additional credit. She gave me a funny look. Now, I was expecting them to deny me based again on the inquiries but to my surprise the Credit Analyst said she was very impressed at what I had done to rebuild my credit after filing for Chapter 7 in 2011. She even mentioned how well I was doing with my other Barclays Rewards Mastercard (put about $800 through it every month and PIF). Zero dollars reporting at the time of application and get this.....SHE NEVER ONCE MENTIONED THE INQUIRIES OR SEEMED EVEN CONCERNED. She then told me "based on what I'm seeing, I can approve you for $3500 dollars and if you still need more we can move credit from your other card (other card had a $2500 limit) onto your NEW BARCLAYS APPLE VISA CARD! I was in complete shock and awe! I thanked her for providing me with exellent service and pledged to take care of this account as well as I have my other Barclays account. The new iMac arrives in a few days and I am now ready for the ERT to apprehend me as I am turning myself in. Back to the garden I go because Barclays will be watching me like a hawk for the next 6 months.

Grats on the approval.

Since you are already a customer with Barclays for quite some time, they probably evaluate you based upon their internal scoring more than just whatever is in your CR. You certainly did maintain your accounts very well so that's probably the biggest reason why they're willing to overlook that.

Re: Someone send the ERT now!!!!

Congrats on the approval! Back to the garden, stat!

On the techie side, be careful with the 802.11ac. The thing most people don't know is that 802.11ac only runs on the 5GHz spectrum, not like 802.11n and its predecessors that can run on 2.4GHz (the normal operating frequency range) or 5GHz. So if you don't have a 5GHz router, your wireless won't work. Just a friendly heads up

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?
