As I recently went on small spree again after freezing myself for 2 months, I got denied from Citi forward, discover more,
boa signature, amex blue cash preferred. For some reasons, amex has sympathy on me and didn't pull hard on my report.
I was only able to get travelocity amex from barclay and CLI on it to $3000. I tried recon citi 4 times today to no success
and I think I will wait until next february to let things cool down. But before freezing myself again, I need to prepare
my existing tradlines to make them at least usable and be "sufficient as credit references" for applying for those
visa signature and world MC which request $5000 CL or bigger. So, I went ahead request CLI on my heaviest usage card,
FIA fidelity, from $1000 to $3000. Get message to call 1-800-294-5217 to get decision. I called and answered mutiple questions
of employment, income related questions and she let me hold a line for about 2 minutes and come back with congratulation
your request has been approved. New CL will reflected on your account right now.
Next target for CLI would be my chase freedom but I seldom use this card. I don't know if I will just waste hard pull if they check and see
there is almost no usage on it and declined my request?
I would hold off on requesting a CLI with Chase until your INQ have aged a bit. They will pull a hard and deny you for recent INQs. Just work with what you have right now and let some aging help your credit file.
Do you know what bereaus chase usually pull for CLI request? They pull EX when I applied for a card.
they have always pulled EQ for me. I have 4 cards, checking, savings, mortgage with them along with over 3 years CC history and was denied in March for a CLI because of INQ. I'd tread lightly with Chase.
I hope they go for EQ for me. No one really check EQ anymore in NYC except discover and some credit unions.
Could you give a bit more background? I am wondering why Citi and Discover would deny you those two cards when FIA approved you for Fidelity.

My first secured public savings bank CC was opened on 8/2010. I opened second card from cap1 on 3/2011.
Then I apped for citi forward and got error message screen when submitting application. I did a big mistake by
apped for the same card again the day after. Ten days passed, I got 2 denial letters and wasted 2 hard pull on EX.
I got my amex zync as a third one on 4/2011. As of now, I had 4 inqs on EX, 2 on EQ, 2 on TU. I started a first app spree
on 5/2011 and result was:
1. fidelity amex pull EX then 2 days later pull TU(741) then got approved for $1000 CL. I think co-brand cards usually
have lesser requirements and I have better chance getting approved than non co-branded plus I just knew later
after getting approved that there will always be a manual review for applications that were not instantly approved
for fidelity card. My UTI% at that time is 1%. No Baddies. Everything is good except short credit history.
2. amex blue cash everyday denied and still denied after recon.
3. discover more denied and they requested for co-applicant but I don't want that.
4. chase freedom denied first and got it on recon. $1000CL. I banked with them so thing just went much easier
than recon with citi.
5. barclay apple got it through recon.
6. apped for psecu,penfed membership
After the spree, there were 8 inqs on EX, 4 on EQ and 4 on TU. I freezed EX and stopped for 2 months
plus XXX EQ and TU back to square1 and go for second spree as I described.
