Suggestions For New Card

Hey everyone, I am thinking about getting another credit card, which I will most likely use as my card to carry a balance (if I am going to carry one at all). I currently have the Citi Forward card and my credit score is around 740 (trans union). I am going into law school, and we are not allowed to work for the first year. I am assuming this may hurt my ability to get a good card that is not for students. I am hoping for a card with a low interest rate. Any help is much appreciated, and if any additional information would allow for you all to better answer my question, please let me know. Thanks!

Welcome to the forums!

Is your 740 a transunion FICO score? If you're not allowed to work, how will you pay this card and take care of your other needs like housing, food and etc?

Re: Suggestions For New Card

I actually am not positive it's trans unions. I checked it through credit karma, which I saw mention trans union, but I am probably mistaken. To pay for stuff I have money saved up, will be working all summer, and will be taking out student loans. I also can get a small amount of money from my parents (but not much). Is there any other info that is helpful? I have had no problems paying off bills as I don't spend a ton, but I thought it'd be nice to have a card that I could, for example, put all my books on each semester, and then slowly pay it off. Thanks again for any help and for the quick response.

How about CC for student?   or  ask your parent to add you as AU?  ... or joint acct holder?

Not to be a spoiler here or anything, but I wouldn't apply for more credit if you don't have a steady supply of income. With the economy in bad shape and the CCCs acting crazy, I would really hate to see you get into more debt. Now, I do realize after law school you'll have a great opportunity to earn money, but you'll still have debt to repay with your student loans. Adding CC debt could make things worse. Not only that, but CCCs might not approve you since you cannot prove you have a job or a reliable source of income. Just my humble opinion.Smiley Happy

burgh, fused is right !!    I agree with him.

I did provide some web site for you to browse.   But, honestly, it seems  you are still depending on your parents to support you.   It will be best for you and your parents to wait until you obtain a reasonable job, not just summer job.   All it's up to you.    We only can do is give you an advise.
