Target RC has taken CLI to the next level!!!

Got approved for the red card for the dreadded $300 limit about 4 months ago. Used the card for about $40 for 2 halloween costumes, paid in full. Then i let it sit for couple months, then used it for $295, paid in full, statement cut off couple days ago, and called in today to ask for cli. What the rep told blew me off!

He asked if my income was updated on the website, i said yes i did update it right after i registered my card. He said ok i am submitting your request for review and you will hear back from us in about.... Wait For It.... 75 days.... Yes 75 DAYS!!!! So here i am driving and thingking why would someone say 7 TO 5 days instead of 5 TO 7... I asked him again, he said Yes 75 days.. So you mean Seven-Five, i mean you mean 2 and a half months i will wait? He said yes. All i could say at that moment was thanks, and hung up. So now i am seriously thinking if i should keep the card, or just close it, especially since the approval i got some nice cards.

Keep it if you are going to use it. They don't accept consumer requested CLI any more.

Re: Target RC has taken CLI to the next level!!!

That's crazy!

So crazy that I googled "75 days target credit card" just to see what would pop up. And your not alone! I didn't spend any time reading what came up, but this isn't unusual.

It seems to me it would have a better effect on customer relations if they just told you no up front, and then surprised you with an increase in 75 days if that's what it takes. This way just prolongs the pain.

Yes and i really would like to use the card, but the other day when i used it, our shopping was over $350 and i really felt emberassed to the cashir to split the payment. So i dont really need for uti, but to use. Macy's was opened the same day with the same SL and after a quick phone conversation i am $2K now.  These days where people are getting 3X cli's left and right, asking a consumer to wait for 75 days for couple hunderd bucks cli is a little ridicilious i guess.

Sorry to hear!!! Target doesn't like to give out big CLI.  Not too many people get over $5K for Target card except those got the card back in 90s.

Ron i would be happy even if he said lets do $500, but asking a customer to wait for 75 days is just unacceptable. With my credit, it was easier to get 2 barclays, Amex BCE, and even reconning an SL of $2K to $4K on my Dillard's Amex and then getting another $1K cli in less than a month from a conservative bank like WF. Lesson learned! I should have done a little better research before i applied for it.

Re: Target RC has taken CLI to the next level!!!

got the card about '4 months' ago, rep tells you 75 days/2.5months...sounds like around your 6 month mark(?)

Whats target normally give? 4month cli's?

He couldve said at your 6 month/6th statement and sounded more reasonable i suppose lol. Not like he broke it down to '6,480,000 seconds' Smiley Sad

If he would have said i may see a cli around 6th statement that would have made more sense. The way he said it was that they would review the account and i should see the results in about 75 days. My point was that i was requesting a cli. This is not a cap one secured card that you should be getting a cli when they feel like it. Or they can say no cli at the moment.  have never had another creditor, or heard one that would not at least consider a cli when the consumer requests one, excluding Amex and such that are on a time table.

Re: Target RC has taken CLI to the next level!!!

My initial limit was 300. I used the card a couple of times for hair Care and some pants... and I paid it off and stopped using it for a couple of months. Then I used it for toothpaste just so it wouldn't go inactive. That same day the limit increased to 800... not sure how they do it but yeah...

I have seen some people getting some auto cli's and at the same time i have seen some people here that were stuck at 300 for 2 years Smiley Sad I guess you were one of the lucky ones. I will wait until after 6th statement and see what happens.
