Today I applied in-store for the Target REDcard (the credit card, not the debit) and after the associate processed the application she got an error about the server for processing applications being down or something. The screen instructed her to tell me (the customer) to try again on another day, and to give me the 5% discount anyhow. She indicated to me that apparently their application system goes down frequently.
Anyhow, I ended up calling the customer service line later just to check and I was approved after all. If I didn't think to call I would have applied again in a few days and taken another inquiry! Just an FYI to everyone, if you apply and get told there's some sort of error make sure to call and check before applying again!
good heads-up
What's your CL?
Probably 300
FYI the debit card is a soft pull
My CL is for $1500.
I think they are getting a bit better with credit lines lately.
My approval was $2500 about a year ago, and my daughter (19) just got $750. When she app'd, we figured she would get $200 so we were both pleased!
I got $200,so I'm hoping it will increase.
I felt so bad, the poor girl that was checking me out got SO EXCITED that she had a REDcard app in line (I guess they get incentivized somehow) and then it didn't seem to work. Oh well, happy I got it! The only issue is that I guess you usually get a receipt with your number to use in the meantime while waiting for the card, and I didn't.
Yea I worked at Target for a few years and they do get recognition and maybe a small price for opening up a new account. I do remember though that even then we often had problems with the system going through successfully, but were recognized for the attempt either way.
