I apped in store and received a $2,500 limit on the store card -- so, not everyone gets toy limits.

$2,500 is $2,250 more than I'd ever spend in a single Target trip or day.

What was your score at the time?

I'm not sure of the date, or which bureau and version they use, but all my Fico scores are between 780 and 815.

Then that definitely played a good part in your initial CL. But again I have heard of FICO's in the 700's getting CL of $500

If you're using the card for the 5% discount, even $300 should be enough for most purchase needs.

What is the difference between the RedCard and the store card?

None.  They're the same.

2,500 is kinda of a toy limit for an 815 credit score, no?

Normally, $2,500 is a joke; however, for Target I don't care. I just want the 5% discount -- make a payment for the purchase as soon as I get home.

I really have no clue what I'd spend more than $300 on at Target at any given time.

EDIT: $300 is more than twice our average Target spend.

Ray what's your sales tax in MN?

We have 7.25% tax here......

You have tax on groceries?

No tax on groceries or clothing. Thank goodness for that! But, I am sure some day it will come. MN loves to tax you to death!

Personally, my DW's card has been stuck at $200 for a few years.  But lately I've read on the board about opening lines being much better.  And if you shop there frequently, then it might be a good card for the 5%.

How are they on recon?

What about CLI's are they HP or SP?

She was approved for the small line when her scores were lower and I haven't applied, so we don't have any experience with the recon department.  You can't request CLI online, you have to call.  Everytime she's called for an increase she gets the scripted, "We are not offering any increases at this time....however we perioudically review accounts for increases".  So no pull has even been done.

I thought I would never get anything above my lame $200 limit!  But I knew I would be shopping there, so I wasn't going to close the card.  Now it's at $2050.  Not bad, I don't think.  I'm hoping to get another CLI before summer.  All the CLIs I have gotten (2-3) have been automatic.

Would you mind sharing what your spending/payment habits were like? Also what were your scores at the time you app'd? Thanks :smileyhappy:
