Target won't raise my credit Limit

I've had the Target Red  Card for 5 years with a cl of a measly $200. I've never had a late payment, always paid more than the minimum due, and my credit score across the board has increased in the last 5 years from the low to mid 500's to the mid 600's.

what gives?

I called and spoke to the supervisor, and she said there was nothing I can do, that the increases are automatic.

what does it take to please these people?

I don't get it.

All I know is what I was told last week by a rep there, that you're more apt to get a CLI with frequent usage no matter if carried over or PIF, or how much or little you spend.

FICO: EQ 814 | TU 847 | EX ? (Started in the low 500's... you can do it!)

Amex BCE $25000, Amex AP $20000, SFFCU Visa $15000 + LOC $5000, USAA Amex $6000, USAA MC $7000, Cap1 $9500, Freedom $12000, Slate $500, Barclays "RIP" SM $11500, USBank Cash+ $12500, Citi Diamond $11200, Citi Double Cash $12000, Care Credit $13500k.

Re: Target won't raise my credit Limit

so what your saying is if I just go in and buy a soda with my red card every day and pay off let's say once a week, I will have a better chance to raise my credit limit?

that's nuts!

but if it works, I'll do it.

Re: Target won't raise my credit Limit

LOL that's what it sounded like to me!  I reiterated with him - it's not the purchase amount, it's not when paid, it's the frequency of purchases.  My boyfriend needs dishtowels.  I'm going shopping tonight for $5 dishtowels.  lol

Re: Target won't raise my credit Limit

This card is less likely to grow than a Capital One acct!
I got a $300 limit with a 650 FICO.
After a year+ of no clis, I closed it....
Target Red Card blows... Just my opinion...
I used it heavily-spending $500-1000 in a year and pif mostly. I never got a cli.
Don't count on it.

Re: Target won't raise my credit Limit

Seems this is a common theme from what I read around here.

Re: Target won't raise my credit Limit

With TD bank taking over management of the portfolio, there have been some reports of some long-time people getting increases (e.g. $300 --> $500).

My TARGET Visa got an increase not long ago under TD Bank, limit is now $5,500.  I do use it frequently and PIF as well.  Then again, I've had this account since 2001 when it was under TNB.

Re: Target won't raise my credit Limit

You should try a different card. I usually hate everything that is Capital One but you should be able to qualify for one of their cards. Store cards are waste of time IMO.

Of course YMMV

Re: Target won't raise my credit Limit

Several years ago I got a loan and paid mine off... their thanks for me was to lower my limit from $5000 to $500....could not give me any reason.  Had very good credit.

4 years later, still $500.  Rarely use it.
