Thank you AmEx

Today is my 60th day with my Blue Cash,

I just called AmEx for a CLI (2000CL) to start, I used the 3X rule and asked for a 6000 total line of credit, the nice lady put me on hold for no more than 6 seconds and came back and said I have excellent news for you. "You have been approved, within 15 minutes you will be able to use 6000!!!" Smiley Surprised

I figured I'd get counter offered, but nope, they gave me what I asked for, no questions asked.

What a great way to start the week!!!!

Just thought I'd share that Smiley Happy

Re: Thank you AmEx

Amex is pretty good about cli and it's only a soft inquiry too, sometimes no inquiry at all.  Amex has been good to me too.  I like Amex a lot.

Congratz on you cli.

Re: Thank you AmEx

Congratulations to you both!!

As far as it being a hard or soft, I don't think it was either, the lady put me on hold for, at the very most 6 seconds, I don't think that's enough time to do a pull??

And I forgot to mention, This Blue CC was just listed on my EX report today (backdated to 91) so it shows as opened in 3/1991, lengthened my AAoA from 3.9 to 6.7 if I remember correctly and gave me a 21 point boost. Now this is a "Plus" score I'm talking about so I pay no mind to it, and I know FICO rounds down AAoA so my real AAoA went from 3 to 6 years.

I refreshed my EQ report @ Equifax and its not showing there yet, I assume it should show tomorrow, I'm hoping to see a nice score increase on EQ and TU with this 20 year old acct listing, I may even see an 800 on TU if I'm lucky, hopefully I'll see 790's on EQ???

IMO, AmEx is an AWESOME CCC period!!!

@KIPPIE12, it sure is a great feeling, not to mention I feel victorious to come back from horrible credit 14 months ago has been a great accomplishment for me, I'm so damn stoked to be where I should have been all along. I all but gave up on my credit until something came over me last year around March and I have been hard after it since that day in March 2010, it has been worth every single second I spent working on it.

@Anonymous, Thank you, My only intention in the world for me now is to treat AmEx and the other Prime CC's I now have like the holy grail, I will be closing 3 of the rebuilder CC's I got last year, I will wait till each hits the one year mark and bye bye. Time to focus on the CC's and the CCC's that actually care about their customers as well as these CC's will actually grow with me. (Not ot mention no AF low APR's)

In 6 months I'll call AmEx for another CLI but I believe I'll only gor for 10K limit, I mean thats far more than I'll EVER use at one time, I'm not planning on carrying a balance with AmEx, I'll do everything I can to make sure AmEx is PIF every month, I am actually honored to be in the AmEx Family, I know some do not like AmEx, however, I believe the majority view AmEx as the best or one of the best CCC's.

I have an app for the Clear under review, I was declined 30 days after I apped for the Blue, at that time I had a (bogus) CO on my reports, but was approved for the Blue Cash, I bet my EX report and score was just on the border for approval and the inq is what got the decline on the Clear, that and the CO. (those were two of the three reasons I got for decline, the other was insufficient # of revolving accounts, uh I have 7 CC's 2% util at time of app)

@Two weeks after I apped for the Clear that CO was deleted from my reports (per HSBC's instructions to the CRA's) and my scores sky rocketed and my report is perfectly clean, so I called AmEx and told them about the changes on my report, I was told to fax in copies of my updated CR's and they would review it for approval, I'm optimistic because I have a perfectly clean report and an EX @ 770 or above (my EX and TU reports are identical and my TU FICO is 784) I may be declined again who knows, but I feel I have a great shot at getting it. (that would be another AmEx backdated to 91 my AAoA would skyrocket LOL)

Anyhow, thanks for the replies, they are much appreciated and inspiring, thank you.

What kind of usage to go from 6 to 18k, really nice increase!

am a bit too sqeamish to try for the 'request up to 3x CL' max, for a chance to receive an instant decision, which seems to have gone in and out (during tough markets) of vogue. don't need it, in any case but adds credence to the allure of amex cs, and those jd powers ratings. they apparently outcompete most other lenders in this area by what seems to be a large margin. cheers to OP and those who shoot for the stars with Amex, seems they continue to win over new and old card holders alike these days.

In 2010 I spent around 20K on the card and always PIF. Since the end of the year I haven't used it that much but still got approved for the CLI. I thought I might get a counter offer but they approved the whole amount so I was pretty happy.
