Thank you points conversion rate?

I knew that Citi thank you points conversion rate to cash or statement credit is at only 50%. For getting $50 cash, you would need 10,000 points

However, when I wanted to convert thank you points to gift cards, I found 6000 points = $50 gift card or 83% only.

Is this always the case or is it reduced?

May be I had incorrect impression that 5000 points will get $50 gift card of my choice.

Re: Thank you points conversion rate?

Here is quick rundown:

Forward- Less than 1:1, except for travel booked through their website and student loan and mortgage rebates
TY/TYP- 1:1 on gift cards, merchandise, etc. (unsure about statement credits/cash)
Premier/Prestige- 1:1 on everything (still unclear about statement credits), 1:1.25 for travel booked through their website

If you have the Forward and another card with TY points, then points on the Forward are upgraded to that level, a la Chase Freedom + CSP.

Can anyone confirm that TY/TYP points convert 1:1 for statement credits/cash refunds?

Re: Thank you points conversion rate?

I thought when you added TY Premier that your points redeemed at 1.33 cents for travel.

I believe when purchasing a ticket it's 1.25 and when redeeming TY points for travel it's 1.33.

Even with the lower tier TY cards (e.g. Forward) you can still get 1:1 on some of the $100 gift card redemptions, such as Macy's.

+1.  I redeem for gift cards that give me the 100 bucks for 10k points.
