Congrats on it all though.

It was a counter offer. I went for broke and asked for $6K and the computer said it can be instantly increased by 1K. I accepted the 1K and there was a another button at the bottom that said "ask for more" so I did and they tried to do a HP but my report was frozen so that went nowhere.

Interestingly I get more love from the conservative lenders in my portfolio of cards amex 7500 & penfed 8500 than chase (5000 freedom) and discover (2500, more card with 5 years perfect payment history). It's really interesting how ymmv works out for folks.

The larger banks have been kind to me as well. It's good to know that others have the same experience.

My lowest limits have come from credit unions.
