My Costco Amex 2500 to 7500 So 3X Love it
I've had my Blue Cash for a year with a $10k limit. After mistakingly making a payment 5 days late, they reduced my limit to $5k, this was 6 months ago. I was recently denied for a CLI I requested to get my limit back up to $10k, prior to discovering this forum. I think I was declined because of my high utilization at the time, which was at 50%. I'm paying that down to below 30% and will try again in 90 days. Should I be watching for soft pull from Amex prior to requesting and if so, what products are people using to be able to view soft pulls on a monthly basis?
@FicoTron
Congrats on the CLI. Very interesting experience though!! "But he then asked if I wanted him to check if there was a lower offer that he could approve and lock it in immediately" Others getting 7-10 message should try this route going forward too and report if it works
@911gt34life
Congrats!

To see softs, need to check official Experian credit report. If you have a report number handy, then you can use the same report number for upto 90 days and actually get an updated version of your credit report each time you check online! Lately my experience has been that viewing report resets the 90 day expiration too. Example I have been using the same report number that I originally had in October, because I check my reports weekly.
It used to be considered a loophole, but knowledgeable CSRs will tell you about this great Experian service.

@Anonymousfor that info on experian @Anonymous saluki just tried it
OK.. finally got the "Declined" mail
here is the reason in the letter
"one of more payments received in the past 12 months on your american express account were too low given the outstanding balance and repayment histoty"
i only paid minimums as auto-pay settings but didn't really kept any high balance - so, recon?? can you please give me a number to reach them...

got the wait for "7 - 10 days" message when I pulled the request just now... opened this Delta Skymiles Amex about 5 months ago - initial limit is 9500; reading through all these forums, wanted to test it .. requested an additional $10000 and make my limit to 19500 (because i must be below 25K cap). I have no other AMEX cards and my Experian Score is 780 (as per Premier Credit Manager) and utilization r/t of 4%; i really didn't need the increase in limit but curiosity got the better of me ..
will post the reason for denial { i am fairly confident its a denial - just hoping not a HP on my Experian file}
Thanks Revelate - i actually use this a lot (to get miles). only card I use unless they don't accept AmEx. so, may be paying just the min hurt me this time. i PIF but didn't bother much about statement due date - guess my bad.
since I tried the auto-CLI, i should wait for 6 months before applying again - correct? must make sure I pay my balance before the due date for these 6 months
any experience with RECON on these soft pulls? worth it or should I garden for 6 months? any advice appreciated.. these forums rock !!
