The Donut Experiment with Amex

Let me know if you'd like me to do anyting with my AMEX and see if I get FR'd? I am going to attempt to get FR'd by having a weird spending pattern for the sake of your amusement. I don't care if they shut me down forever.

I'm thinking of buying nothing but pure donuts with my card (I buy donuts for my employees every week). So for the next year I'm just going to buy donuts, donuts, donuts and more donuts. My charge statement will say Yum Yum Donuts, Winchells Donuts, The Donut Hole, Donut Express, Donut King, etc.

Then after about 2 or 3 months I will buy something totally random like $500 worth of adult movies or buy everyone at my job lunch at Wienerschnitzel and see what happens. Looking forward to having a little fun with Amex's algorithms and FR reps. If you guys have any other ideas let me know and I'll do it.

Re: The Donut Experiment with Amex

Sounds like a lot of calories...Lol

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: The Donut Experiment with Amex

The only impact will be a gain of weight.

Now if you were to add all of your ee's as authorized users, and let them buy the donuts while your card  is SD, then you might end up with an FR.

Re: The Donut Experiment with Amex

I'll admit, this made me laugh a little.

I honestly don't think that would do it though.  If you really wanted to invite a FR, I think you'd have to spend 6-12 months only running a couple hundred a month through the card, and only spending in places that would indicate you've hit hard times.  Then one day try to book like $5K+ in travel expenses.  Even then, I don't think you'd get a FR unless the rest of your CR indicated trouble (high balances, lates, etc.).
