Hi All,
I really want a new CL. I currently have a $3k MC from Cap One with a $2500 balance and a $800 secured Visa from NFCU. Would it best to try and apply for a card through one of the two and or wait until I pay down the Cap One? I plan on giving Cap One $1k in the next 2 weeks. The Cap One was opened in 07 and the Secure in 2014. My scores are listed below and I recently had a fraud tax lien deleted from 2/3 fo the CRAs and a PIF CO from Portfolio updated on 2/3 as well.
Should I apply or just wait it out? I was hoping the new CC, if approved would help out my util percentage.
Thanks

Your current utilization is high. Pay them down to approximately 10% of your CL. This will boost your scores. You really need to get your scores into the mid 600's or just below it to increase your chances of approval.
Great thanks. I believe by this time next month or by end of Nov my Cap One should be nearly paid off. I'll wait until then and see where my scores are
Quick update. My CapOne should be PIF in a couple of days. I'll be using probably $346/$7800 of my new total CL. Which wil have my UTL at less than 1% at reporting
Happy holidays everyone! How is everyone doing? Hopefully still paying off debt, it can be challenging this time of year.
Bump! And I guess I'll be joining this challenge as well. My goal is to pay these cards off by July 2016!

My apologies for being off the grid for a while.. I have been very busy with life, and have not taken the chance to get back on the boards in a while. I look forward to helping people that need help.... I know I do..
Quick update: Life happens, as it does to all of us, and I have added a few cards in the last year, and upped my total debt. I did not win this challenge, but I have been able to handle everything thrown at me without calling a family member for help. I am not bankrupt, and have food on the table, even though I have a lot to do to work on getting back in some sort of reasonable stance on DTI.
In saying all of that, I plan to be here for a while, off and on. Lets Get on board and GIT R DUN!!!!

It's all good man, we have life outside of the forums and I hear yah. And to update, I guess my debt is slightly lower now. What I did was I consolidated most of my CC debt into 3 BT cards. Financially speaking, it makes sense. Credit wise, my points took a nose dive...
The more things change, the more they stay the same. In my case, I wish they had stayed the same, but life exploded in ways I really never could have imagined, as it is apt to do. Consequently, I am starting over here, and in the garden club, and with credit in general. Or at least the rebuilding part. I'll edit later to add details once I've surveyed the damage, which I've been afraid to look at.... For now, I'm just checking in.
