I am surprised Wells is so low. They have been great with my account. I agree Barclay's should be near the top, they have been great as well.
I would put Cap One dead last.
I must be one of the lucky ones... I've never had an issue with Capital One.
My second CC was a Capital One Platinum Mastercard with a $500 limit. I opened it in 2008. In 2009, they automatically upped my limit to $4750. Two weeks ago I requested a product change to a Venture One card to avoid an annual fee. I did it via their online chat and the card is sitting in my wallet as I type this.
That said, It's going in the sock drawer once my American Express Gold arrives hopefully today or tomorrow. Although I plan to keep it active because of AAoA and no foreign transaction fees.
I don't really find it any of it surprising. Amex customer service has always been great with me, despite the fact that I get foreign reps a majority of the time. They've never had thick accents and have always been helpful. I have no experience with Discover, but it's all US based and everyone seems to say it's great. I haven't had too much experience with Chase yet, but the message center has been hit-or-miss. The Sapphire Preferred's dedicated US customer service was exceptional the one time I used it, but never used the customer service of one of the lower cards. Capitol one's customer service blows and my folks have had plenty of bad experiences with their Bank of America cards, so I'm not surprised by that.
Barclays should be right down there at the bottom with Crap 1.

Haha.. hopefully not. Although I do plan on passing all my bills through the card, so in a sense it will be like my checking account.
Since finishing college I've been pretty good about budgeting. Bills are paid as soon as I am and I know what I can spend every pay period as "free" money. I take that out as cash. If I use a card I take that much cash out of my "free" money and keep it with the reciept of the card use. When it is time to pay the card, I redeposit the cash so I have enough to PIF. Carrying cash also gives me a visual for what I can spend. It probably sounds excessive but it keeps me on track.
I am surprised US Bank are below the average. I chatted with one of their bankers today about their Cash+ card and besides being knowledgeable, she was the most concerned and caring person I've ever talked to. 5 stars without a doubt in customer service for them. They even let us open a Platinum Checking Package totally free of charge.

I just don't get why GE is ranked so low, they've always been good to me and have some great policies in place. I think Chase is pretty good, ive only had my Freedom card for 3months but ive called them about a few various times about random things and they have always been excited to help and seem well informed of their company policy
I agree GE has been nothing but great with service and on my accounts.
I agree that GE is way too low. GE has been nothing but great to me. I think I know why they are so low though. It is probably because A. It is very hard to talk to a live person who can actually help. B. They approve with really low limits (average Joe is not going to know to call in every 4 months). C. the minimum payments are not enough to cover the balance before 0% financing expires and the average Joe does not know any better.
