The typical Barclays cld

Decreased my line from 2000 to 1500

Reason being my util spiked to 33% for 8 days while I wait for the bureaus to update because I did a balance transfer in the last month.
It was at about 20% before so a 13% increase for a month makes me shake my head at reason for this.

O well. Card is at 0% for a year and then will get sock drw'd. Called credit dept and they said they tend to do this at over 25% util

I dont think Barclays gets spooked on util. on their card more than they do overall utiil.

That's crazy...AA at over 25% util?  That can't be right, could it?

Every time I start thinking that the Arrival might be a good card for me down the line, I read something like this and am reminded why I don't bother with them - too much drama! Smiley Tongue

Re: The typical Barclays cld

More so than focusing on just the percentage, what is the dollar amount of the debt?

For example if your income is 100k, total CL you is 100k, and your utilization is at 33%, which means your credit card debt is 33,000. That's a lot of money owed solely due to credit card debts relative to your income.

Also, what is your DTI? Your DTI probably went above their threshold and spooked them off.
JPMorgan Palladium (100k), AmEx Platinum (NPSL), AmEx SPG (46k), AmEx BCP (42k), Chase Sapphire Preferred (47k), Citi Prestige (31k), Citi Thank You Preferred (27k), Citi Executive AAdvantage (25k), JPMorgan Ritz-Carlton (21k), Merrill+ (15k), US Bank Cash+ (22.5k), Wells Fargo (12k), Bloomingdale’s (12.4k), Chase Freedom (5k), Discover IT (5k).

Based on his sig he's a student and has about $8200/$25000 on his cards and has a relatively new car loan. If he has a typical student income, I can see how $8200 might spook a lender.
