Re: Thinking about applying for an Amex revolver. Need some advice

Hopefully this is obvious, but once you get the card, there is no need to use it for "everything"   BCE is good for groceries (3%), gas and a set of department stores (2%).

Everything else is 1%.   So, when you can use Freedom for a 5% category, use that instead!  And, if you value URs at more than 1c (as many do), then use the Freedom for all 1% spending as well.

That's a good point, Chase Freedom is at 5% for gas stations, starbucks and drugstores. I don't go to Starbucks and rarely visit a drug store so I'll be using my Freedom exclusively for gas for the next few months. I know this should have been obvious, but I really didn't think of it this way. Thanks for the heads up!
