This forum has helped me so mcuh!

At the end of last year, I started reading this forum in earnest.   I gained a lot of valuable information, which I immediately put to work for my benefit.

Things I learned on the forum:

  1. I could call and ask Chase to convert my useless Platinum Visa to a Freedom card that earns rewards.

Seriously, I had no clue.  Thought I would have to apply, and probably get denied.

 2.  It is possible to get store cards via SPs.

Again, I had no clue.  I, now, have a Victoria’s Secret and J. Crew.

3.  It might be worth a shot to pull the trigger on one of the many Discover It offers I’ve been receiving.

Seriously, I knew my FICO scores were okay, but with the 2007 BK7, still showing I didn’t think I stood a chance, but after reading many posts, I nervously took a      chance.  Well, I was approved, and the card arrived today.

I’ve never been a fan of forums, but I must say; the overwhelming majority of people on this forum are well informed and very helpful.

Thanks for all the great tips, tricks and advice!

I will now spend some quality time in the garden.

Re: This forum has helped me so mcuh!

What wonderful successes you've had! And I agree with you; this forum has helped me, too. Some examples:

I assumed that I was blacklisted by Amex due to an old CO. I received an invite to reply and was ready to trash it because I didn't want to waste an inq. Forum members told me that if I was blacklisted, they wouldn't pull a report so there would be no inq. So with nothing to lose, I apped and was approved for a Green! If not for this forum, I would never have tried.

I assumed I was blacklisted by Chase due to an old Providian account that went bad. A forum member posted a link for a Chase prequalifer site. I put in my info and it came back with offers for CSP and Freedom. After a gardening stint I pulled the trigger on Freedom and... instant approval!!! I wouldn't have tried if it not for the info posted here.

I never knew anything about recons. After the success with the Freedom card I accepted an offer for an Ink for my business. Got the "Your application needs further review" message. Normally, I would have waited it out and I would have received a denial letter. But after learning about backdoors and recons, I called up the next day and was successful at turning an impending denial into an approval, and picked up my first World MC! Without the information gleaned from this forum, I would have NEVER known to call in to find the status of my app and recon!

I'm sure that many, many other posters have had similar experiences. I'm so grateful that these forums exist and have been able to help so many. A heartfelt thanks to the myFICO community!!!
