Time to apply for a new card?

I currently have 3 cards:

Citi Forward - $5,000 CL, ~2009

Capital One - $3,500 CL, ~2007

Amazon Store Card (through Synchrony)- $2,000 CL, 2013

I also have around $20,000 in student loans through Fedloans.

My utilization stays under 4% for these cards, and I rarely keep a balance on them. I'm thinking about applying for a card with a solid cashback (AMEX Blue Cash Everyday, Discover IT) so that I can use it for groceries and gas while paying in full each month.

My only hesitation with applying is that I may be needing an auto loan in the next 6-12 month.

Would this be a good time to add another card?

Re: Time to apply for a new card?

With three cards, the most-recent of which was apped about two years ago, you should have no issues with getting either the BCE or a Discover.

Let us know your result, and good luck!

Check the threads here about the rather large BCE sign up bonus that AMEX apparently has going now, and try to get that one. With AMEX, any one card only gives you the bonus for that card once in a lifetime, so make it the best you can find.

I say go for it.

Also, while you're at it, snag a CLI on your Amazon store card through chat. They seem to be lenient on that front... My limit on that grew from 800 to $5k within 7 or 8 weeks and that was when my credit was still in the 600's.
