lastnight i used my amex for dinner, and for the 1st time i got a oh this card is nice comment. She quickly flowwed up with are tips on this card cash advances .. now perhaps she was fishing for a tip.. but it made me think. I have never thouhght about this
are tips a cash advance ?

No. They are part of the bill and in many higher end places now it is already included in the bill (a practice I hate!)

Tips are NOT a cash advance lol....
I actually was pretty drunk one night and forgot to close my tab, and they charged me a crap load in tips one night a couple of years ago.. :-(

Some people prefer their tips in cash so they don't have to run it through the POS system at the end of the night.

I actually like to keep cash on me for tips.. because I used to like that when I was a server, plus it makes me think twice about tipping too crazy with my credit LOL after a few drinks. ahhaa
