Today marks 1 year with Sapphire (No CLI?)

Today marks 1 year with Sapphire , in fact I just received a $95 bill from them for a "member fee".

Anyway, don't really care about that, I do care about is CLI... never received one.

I started with 5K and I still have 5K a year later.

What is best way of getting an increase with Chase?

Re: Today marks 1 year with Sapphire (No CLI?)

I had the same problem with Chase until I carried a balance. I carried a balance once with my Marriott card and they gave me a $1k auto CLI. Then the next month I did the same with my Freedom card and they doubled my limit from $2200 to $4400.  Good luck

Re: Today marks 1 year with Sapphire (No CLI?)

i think the best way to get a cli from chase is to app for a new card and then transfer the cl

Chase sp 5k c---------------------------Care credit 4500 cl
Chase mileageplus explorer 5k ---Citi diamond p 2k
Chase mileageplus club 15k ------ Discover it 1.5k

Amex gold npsl plus a 35k cl--------BestBuy 2.1k--Kay's 5k
Sam's mc 4.5k --------------------------Jared 6k

Re: Today marks 1 year with Sapphire (No CLI?)

Couple potential pitfalls for advice given so far, imo:

 - "carrying" a balance I presume implies not paying in full by due date, thus accruing interest. Paying even a single cent in interest, even if guaranteed a CLI, is silly in my book. You would lose $$ just to avoid an HP?

 - Applying for a new chase card solely with the intention of transferring limit is also a little backwards; if you're willing to take an HP (for the new account), why not just request a CLI outright? Why take the AAoA hit for new tradeline only to transfer the limit over?

Re: Today marks 1 year with Sapphire (No CLI?)

Although I agree with you^^^^^^, the easiest way to get a much much bigger credit limit with Chase is to apply for a new card and transfer limit. It may hurt your aaoa and give you an inq. but i you don't care about that and just want a higher limit, it is the best choice. It depends on the persons current and future needs

I understand your concern but I've personally experienced situations where I was denied for a small increase but approved for a $8000 limit on a new card. Want to guess what I ended up doing with my new TL?

Re: Today marks 1 year with Sapphire (No CLI?)

Chase likes to see high usage (50%+ monthly for 3+ months; only ~30% for 5 digit limits). This is assuming the income supports an increase.
