A lot of analysis was done in various forums: for a lot of people it isn't a great deal.   You will need to determine how much balance you will carry for how long, how the APR compares to your lowest APR card, and see if that is worth the AF (taking into account the loss of rewards).  With 0% APR offers coming on various cards for at least a few months, $89 every year may seem a lot to pay just for a low APR in case you need it

thanks for the link.  I looked last night, but somehow missed this one.

I'm trying to determine if the annual fee is worth it as well.   She does carry balances from time to time.  And her lowest interest card is her Penfed with 13.24  but no annual fee.   And they do periodically offer O%offers.  So IDK.  Have to think on this one.

Great article.  It breaks it down and shows whether it is a deal or not.  I think I'll tell her to wait and see what else might work for her.  Her scores are steadily climbing.

Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Too Good to be true???? FNBO 3.5% Visa

Wasn't there a forum post from the last year or so, mentioning that FNBO may possibly also have a 4.5% V or 4.99% V card, with no AF?  I seem to recall something like that being listed...perhaps you might want to consider calling FNBO and asking them if (if they do in fact have such an offer) you can potentially switch the 3.5% V with AF offer to the 4.xx% V rate, with no AF?  Just a possible thought anyway...

ETA:  another alternative to the FNBO prime for life with AF card might be, if you're looking for something without an AF, the Unify/Western FCU Variable-Rate VISA card, listed at the link below.  It is listed on the web page as being as low as 5.24% V, but based on helpful info provided on the forum by baller4life, is actually as low as 4.99% V; they just haven't updated their web page apparently...
