I really, really want this card. I tried for it back in April, but got denied. I didn't find out about the preapproval popup until after I applied. I keep trying to get it now, but no luck. I was wondering if anyone has tried applying for this card via preapproval since they revamped their website? Reading previous threads about this card, it almost seems like most of approvals happened in or around October, Not sure if this is coincidence or not.
Based on my experience I believe you need somewhere around 680 to 690 on EQ for the pop up.
They are also very inquiry sensitive, maybe 1 or 2 inquiries at most.
This card has actually gotten better last few months bcause TR partnered up with Starwood.
You can now use the TR points to book Starwood Hotels as well. You also get TR points when you stay at Starwood Hotels.
Is this where it would pop up if I was pre-approved??:

Where?!
When I called total rewards.
I called the number listed for Total Rewards Visa and she tried to "explain to me" how pre-approvals work... which of course she was WRONG.
she was happy to help me apply! but when I asked about pre-approval in her system or where on the total rewards website I might find it she said she "wasn't sure if it was my phone or hers but she wasn't understanding me"... After i repeated a third time she said "it wasn't the phone connection actually, she just didn't understand what I was talking about."
LOL Made my day and I thanked her for her help and hung up!
