Trouble getting SP CLI with Barclay

I just called Barclay about my Apple rewards card. I followed these instructions from another post here:

The last time I called Barclay, the analyst herself told me that when I call next time, from main number, ask for an analyst/specialist that can help you lower your APR. Once you're connected then ask what kind of customer retention/offer they have for you. Ask if they have an APR reduction or a Soft Pull CLI offer in particular.

I asked to be transferred to an analyst that can help me lower my APR and the CSR told me he could look into the APR for me and lowered it to 16.99. Then I asked about a soft pull CLI and he said he could do a CLI too. I told him I only wanted a soft pull CLI and not a hard pull. He said, and I quote, "I know it will be soft pull but I don't want to say that because my system doesn't tell me what kind it will be." I am learning to NEVER trust these front line CSRs, and I said I still would like to talk to a credit analyst because if anyone could do a soft pull CLI it would be them. He put me on hold, then came back and verified that the CLI he could do would be a HP :-\

Now here is what has me scratching my head: he said they don't have credit analysts, and that there was no one outside his department he could transfer me to for help.

Any idea what are the new magic words for Barclay?

Re: Trouble getting SP CLI with Barclay

Personally, with Barclays, the only success I have had in getting a SP CLI was when I called in for a rate reduction. Then after I got it, I asked about any "offers on my account" and the rep responded with an SP CLI that he saw "...my account was eligible for" . The number I called was 866-205-5973 (from the backdoor number thread)

Re: Trouble getting SP CLI with Barclay

A few weeks ago, I called 866-951-1437, simply asked if there was any offer for me, since my card was in the sixth month.  CSR transferred me to someone, dont know what her title was, who reduced apr and also offered me sp CLI.

Maybe you can try different numbers?   Above # or 866-408-4064.

Re: Trouble getting SP CLI with Barclay

Well I thought I would reach out to barclay regarding an Apr reduction after reading this thread. So I went from 25.99% to 24.79, a big 1% reduction. Thank goodness I don't carry a balance.

Re: Trouble getting SP CLI with Barclay

i never received a soft pull CLI from Barclay when I had one of their cards. I tried everything I read on here including asking for a rate reduction and it never worked for me. I received a 1% reduction but was told there was no CLI available. They seemed to hate my credit profile. I really wanted their NFL card so, hoping I could get my foot in the door, I  accepted an offer for their Mastercard. I was surprised to receive a starting limit of $250. This was at the same time I had other cards with $15K and above limits. After over a year of not getting a credit increase with Barclay I canceled it.

I don't miss that $250 credit limit Smiley Happy

More than enough credit.
