hi, i was looking for some opinions on when i should apply for an amex, either blue cash or green, and the chase freedom.
im 19 years old and have 5 credit cards, perfect payment history. no negs.
i have the following:
Best Buy Store Card: $3000 cl/$1200 balance (5/12)
Capital One for Newcomers: $2000 cl/$0 balance (8/12)?
Discover More: $750 cl/$0 balance (10/12)
Discover it: $1200 cl/$0 balance (12/12)?
Walmart Store Card: $400 cl/ $0 balance (2/12)
i dont know how many inqs are on each credit bureau but id say 10 or less. only like 2 within last 6 months.
my creditsesame says my cs is at 736, ck is at 724, walmart fico is like 710. i pulled my transunion credit report from this website, but i have a strong feeling that the one they sold me is not correct due to the fact that it only had one of my credit cards reporting on it, but i called transunion and they told me all 5 of them are reporting.
also, some of my parents credit cards that have been open for a while are reporting on my credit report because my dad and i have similar names.
my basic question is, when do you think i should pull the trigger on amex and chase?
Get both
As for Amex, I would go for PRG or Green.
As for Chase, I would go for Freedom.
I have both.

Didn't really answer my question, but am definitely planning on it...

When you bring utilization down to 2% and know what cards to apply for.
What is your AAoA? I would def make sure your util is low.
As long as your Util is under 30% I would say your good to pull the trigger now. But another thing that draws me back is saying that your dads cards are reporting on yours, you should really dispute that all of your reports as it can mess up your util and or inquires as well.

I would love to have a 20-year-old account on my credit report

The only problem with that is if he applies for either card and doesn't get an instant approval he wouldn't possibly be approved on a recon. They would see his age and accounts and know that whatever his score is, it should even be lower because his dads account as long as they have always been paid on time is raising his score.
At this point I would suggest apping for both now. Your profile at first glance seems amenable to them. Worst case scenario is a denial which you can recon and get an exact idea of what requirements they are expecting...
