***UPDATE**** Finally Got Chase to Budge (a little)

After being stuck at $1.3k for yrs, I decided to give another call to the number on the back of my Freedom.  Spoke to Alan in Manila.  Stressed that while I has a BK7 in 07, I had been absolutely perfect since then with Chase and all other creditors.  Told him that since this is no longer my only card, it could not be my primary card as long as my CL stayed where at the same level.  Emphasized that I was unwilling to take HP.  He mumbled something and I repeated "no hard pull."

Didn't get much, but I am now at $1,800 CL.  The additional $500 won't make this my go to card, but, at least, now I can better take advantage of the 5% at major retailers.

I'll give it another go in Feb, when my BK passes the 7yr mark and my installment loans will be down significantly.

UPDATE:

SoI awake this morning to an alert from CS.  Yes, you guessed it "monitoring alert" inquiry from Chase bank. Pulled the EO number from the "backdoor" thread and got ready for work.  Called shortly after 8 and spoke with a lovely lady in OH, who apologized but sad she would need to speak with a credit bureau specialist. I was placed on hold and both reps came back on the line. The credit specialist I asked me to go over again what took place with Alan.  The credit bureau specialist put me on hold for a bit and stated she wasn't showing a hard inquiry on her end, so she would have to check with EXP and also pull the tape of my call.

I took down each woman's full name and telephone numbers and gave them mine.  Went downstairs to meet with someone, and when I came back I had a message from the CBS that said EXP would be removing the inquiry from my report.  Called her back to ask if I could have an email stating what she said on VM and she assured me I would receive a confirmation letter from EXP.

She also stated that the tape reveled I could not have been any clearer in telling the rep "no hard pull" multiple times.  Guess he'll be sent for retraining.

Anyway, both women were helpful, cheerful and professional, and in the end the issue was resolved to my satisfaction.  I did check my account to make sure Chase didn't roll back the increase and it is still there.

Will now wait for the letter from EXP.

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

+2

I would check your actual CRs.  If you squeezed $500 without HP, then that is commendable, especially with Chase!  LOL

Re: Finally Got Chase to Budge (a little)

I have a feeling its going to be a HP, but it's also possible, though highly unlikely, that its a SP. Most CSRs do not know (or just can't be bothered) about SP vs. HP.

This was probably a HP. Wonder why they didn't CLI a bit more tho. I have heard success stories of Chase being post-BK friendly. Keep us posted!!

Re: Finally Got Chase to Budge (a little)

If it was a hard pull, I'd call back and have the manager pull the phone call (they record almost all of them now) and have her listen to yu saying "no HP"....may be helpful in getting them to remove it if it happens to be one.
