So chase does CLI's with only soft pulls. I thought it was only HP, good to know.

The increase was a hard inquiry and for some reason Chase is choosing to remove it. Not every lender allows increases without a hard and the representatives you submit the request with are not analysts and just send it to the system. They cannot stop it from being a hard and cannot increase it without submitting it to the system.

They should be trained to know how the system works and convey that information to you clearly and fully.  They should not tell you one thing and then do something to the contrary, which is why the inquiry is being removed.  In addition, according to the Credit Bureau Specialist the inquiry was not showing in their system.

You may be able to get your Exp report for free! Search check Experian dispute. They are required to furnish a new, updated copy once a dispite is completed.
You're welcome!!! I've learned how to handle many situations too! Fact is, that one inquiry could be the different between a high 600 score and the 700 club! Lol

Yes, thanks for the reminder. I had thought about getting it for free this morning, but with all the zaniness at work it had slipped my mind.  I will definitely try that route first.

I didn't see where you said the representative told you it was going to be a hard inquiry. I see where you said you didn't want a hard, but again, they cannot control that. I don't know what Chase tells them, but I doubt it's important for them to know if it will be a hard or soft for an increase.

Stated that I didn't want a HP, I asked if this could and would be done without one, and he replied, "yes." more than once. He said it would be only an internal review of account. All of this was verified by the tape of the call which is why Chase immediately agreed to have the inquiry reversed.

I asked several times the CLI request would be done without a HP too any of the three bureaus, which I listed by name.  Each time he said there would be no pull to any bureau.

Poor knowledge and training is rampant not only in the credit world but many other areas as well.  It is a pity that standards are so low.

^^^^ This exactly.  This is plain and simple as outlined in the FRCA 604 section on permissible purpose.  Granted, in the interest of c/s, they have agreed to remove it.

I was attempting to condense a lengthy exchange.  Fortunately, the tape was crystal clear and confrimed that he agreed to what I requested.  I  stated (multiple times) proceed, if and only if it is without a hard pull.  The credit bureau specialist confirmed that my instructions were clear and rep agreed to my request(s), and the HP was not reflected in Chase's  records.  Not sure what that's all about, but I'm happy to know that the inquiry will be gone.Smiley Very Happy
