No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
Last week, I applied for a CLI on my US Bank Platinum. It is by far my lowest CL that "graduated" from a secured card ($1000), provides no rewards, so basically doesn't get much use. I've had it unsecured since the end of February.
Anyway, I wanted to see if I could get them to bump up the CL to $5000, then PC to a 2nd Cash+ card. Well no dice.
Luckily it was a softpull.
A couple of interesting nuggets:
1. They pulled TU 04 (which is interesting because I thought most CCC were using TU 08)
2. They used a score from 4/26/14, so it seems USB uses their last SP on file to evaluate you (similar to Cap One). Unfortunately for me, 4/26 was when my score was feeling the full weight of my early March app spree (678). My TU 08 score is now back over 700...
Anyway just thought I'd share with the group as an additional data point. I will try another CLI, then PC again at the 6 month anniversary (Labor Day ish).
Thanks for sharing, I was just about to ask for a CLI on mine that just unsecured. Not looking good from how yours went though

Yeah I would probably give it 6 months or so. I just got off the phone with the credit analyst dept and the person I spoke with told me basically the main issue is they would like to see more history with the card.
I had the secured card for almost 3 years, but I guess that history doesn't count...it's only the history on this card that matters. So I'll have to force myself to use it more often (which kind of stinks since they are 0 rewards).
I wasted 5 years trying to get a SP CLI on my US Bank Platinum card I had.
Eventually, you may have to admit defeat and have an underwriter/credit analyst do a HP CLI.
