US Bank sent me an email to noify me to sign up 5% for July-Sept. I chose 5% restaurant and fast food and groceries for 2%. What do you choose?
I guess the big question....did anything change?

No, it still doesn't have 5% for billpay.
Ron.

Answer a) No, the categories are exactly the same as Q22013
Answer b) Yes, by the time the categories become active, the $2K cap and the 1 $25 a year bonus rules will be in effect.

What $2K cap? I'm aware of the $25 bonus rules change.
Now on their website:
Earn 5% cash back on your first $2,000 in net purchases each quarter on the combined two categories you choose like Restaurants or Department Stores
So max of $100 per quarter. Someone phoned and it was confirmed that from Jul 1 this applies to all. I would expect a notice about in the May or June statement.
(New customers are impacted immediately)
glad they are not limiting the 2% also.. thats where i make all my money!

Ya.......this is sad news.
I figured with the cap on they could at least reintroduce all those sweet categories back.
Oh well.
I'm still going to hit the cap regardless anyways, just not in an as easy method.
$2000 cap is not on spending. It is on earning as clarified to me by their representative when I discussed changed categories in 1Q
To earn $2000, you have to spend 20 times that amount which for all practical purposes is huge.

The website specifically says different.
