I got a letter saying that I was pre-qualified for the Cash+. Is this a firm offer? Or is it still subject to credit approval? I applied for and was denied it around 3 months ago.
The letter says:
Dear <My name>,
Your excellent credit history pre-qualifies you for the ne US Bank Cash+ Visa Sig.
But then it says: We will first consider you for the Cash+, but if you do not qualify you will be automatically considered for the cash rewards.
I'd be surprised if your letter didn't say something along the line of "your application is subject to credit approval".
Do you bank with them?
Pre-qualified is not pre-approved so no it's not a sure thing.
If it quotes a specific APR and has the opt out prescreen notice on it, it's a firm offer and legit. I'd be sure you have at least one 5K+ limit and note that they use FICO 04 scoring model which is usually lower than the 08 model. In my case, it's 50 points lower. I was approved in July with a mailed offer for 10K with a 724 FICO 04 score. Hope this helps.
Sounds like it might be a firm offer. Thanks for the info.
