I received my USAA Amex credit card in April, however, I am currently receiving 2.25% on gas compared to the new one which offers 5% on gas the first 3k every year. Would they bump me up to the new cash back? I also have the USAA Visa Signature cc so I don't think it's an option to apply for a whole new account.

Unfortunately USAA doesn't do product changes so the only way to get the 5% card would be to apply. They don't have a limit on the number of cards that you can have, only a cap on credit limit which is $50K

You are absolutely right. I just noticed they are technically two different cards. The one I have is the "Cash Rewards" (don't see its available anymore), vs the new one is "Cashback Rewards Plus". What a bummer. I may decide to apply for it next year and in the meanwhile, use Discover at gas stations.
