Hmmm, very tempting! I wonder is the low APR offer available to all members, full and half? I really DO NOT need another card but this is a great deal!!!!

YES, there is a catch!! Only those with property and auto insurance products with USAA are eligible for the 6.99% rate so that means full members only!! :smileysad:

You better assume it will be hard to get the 6.99% rate cause I read fine print and there is no penalty apr for paying late and no cash advance apr.but it is an outstanding offer if you qualified my dad is in army and has account but I was told it is open to any one you just have to join their organization if not in military.

This is not a CU with some random organizational membership application :smileywink:  USAA if you can't get one one of their insurance products for a relative you're pretty much SOL.  There may be a few other examples, but paying $25 (or whatever) to <insert charitable foundation here> doesn't apply in USAA's case.

You will be a partial member if you don't have the military tie, and therefore not qualified for their insurance products.

If I'm mistaken, there are legions of people everywhere who would love to know.

Re: USAA BANK 6.99% for life

Are you referring to the Rate Advantage Mastercard? If so it has been around for a year or two I think. The other catch - no rewards. But if you're after the low APR you're probably not in a position to play the rewards game anyway. I have the World Mastercard with a 10.9% rate but to be honest the tiered rewards on it are craptastic. I deploy frequently so I have the 4% deal pretty much permanently anyway.

It did save me a while ago when the Air Force screwed up my paycheck and I was able to cash advance $800 straight into checking from the MC for a few weeks while the finance office cleared things up*. (The 4% goes for cash advances too) I paid a grand total of $1.98 in interest. I shudder to think what other servicemen pay for the same terms at a payday loan place like you see outside the gate.

*I could have had the AF loan me the money while they fixed it, and then take it out of my paycheck later, but that seems like it just invites more opportunities for them to mess something else up. I still think it was two dollars well spent.
