Smiley Very Happy

Glad I could help! I kept my Wells Fargo secured card a sum total of 6 months, and that was about 5.99 months too long.

Also, in case no one else mentioned it, you might consider adding a secured card.  Sometimes a secured high limit can be the gateway to higher limits on other cards.  Have you thought about that?  I mean, it's not like you're in with B of A or anything.

Hahaha! Goodness you're a crack up! Smiley Wink

Hey, not to jump in or anything, but have you ever considered a Secured card?  We all hate them but you might like one.

Lol!  Such wonderful laugh's you have given me that last couple of days.

Don't like what I have to say or the way I choose to improve MY credit?  Then buzz off.  Secured cards are crap in my opinion, plain and simple.

And, in my opinon, most sub-prime cards are also crap, more so than secured cards.  But those are the options to rebuild with a low credit score.  We do what we have to.  Most people would pick a method that doesn't charge excessive interest and fees, but the sub-primes can rebuild your credit just the same... only at greater cost.  If thats what you want, then go for it.  You probably have enough cards to build some history already, though.

I agree, most are but the one I have with Bank of America I think its great due to the fact that I have 0% interest on it and no annual fee.

... regarding your original question, I maintain that it's best to wait on USAA until you have an offer.  I jumped the gun myself, and got denied for the USAA Amex.  But a year later they preapproved me, and when I applied I got 3k.  Then 6 months later they raised it to 6k.  Everything I've read supports the pre-approval as gold for USAA.

And don't take it personal if a few of us mess with you.  That's just how the internet rolls.  Smiley LOL

Oh I don't take it personally at all I found it hilarious and usually have a great laugh at it.  I've been apart of so many forums, run my own and been a moderator of them so I know how they run and how people are.  Smiley Wink

Your USAA, you receive the preapproval in the my offer section?  I'll be keeping an eye on mine but I really doubt I'll be adding an additional credit for atleast a year.

That's why this thread is so hilarious.  She asked if she would be approved for a USAA card, mentioned she already had unsecured cards, and wasn't interested in getting any secured ones.

I think somewhere along the line her original question was accidentally answered by the bank.  But in the meantime, this has been amusing, Lol

Also, I'm a she.  No a he, or a dude.

Fingerhut will most likely give you a low limit which will not grow unless you use it. So if you're just using it for the sake of "having it" then it's not doing you much good. People here are trying to help you but in the true nature of people that "know everything" you think you know better than those who have been there, done that. So you're going to take 2 or 3 years to build what you could do in 6 months to a year. I wish you luck in your rebuild but I must now leave you in the dust with the rest of the people who got left behind. You will find my bread crumbs  of delicious meals eaten and good credit established along your harsh and bitter extended journey. You can cook those crumbs in your $120 Fingerhut pan with the coating the rubs off.

Yeah, the "My Offers" always has generic stuff they call "Featured Offers" you can apply for, but the real offers come up as a specific card, or car loan, etc.  That's how Wifey got her Platinum, too.  You just click Accept and the rest is magic.  And they seem to like increments of 3,000.

A year is a reasonable wait time, especially if you're working the report like crazy.  If you don't have an offer by then, check out the Capital One Platinum.  People here are pretty down on it but they gave me 3k when I was subprime, and later PC'd me to a green cash with a 10k limit.  And it doesn't have fees.

Pathetic human being.  You act as though I'm a peasant you're a king.  Get over yourself,  why are you so offended because I don't agree with you?

I've managed to improve my score 43 points in a month, I think I'm doing a hell of a job getting to where I want to be!

Re: USAA chances?

Why would I be offended at somebody who is doing something wrong? It's your journey. If you want to use a wrench to hammer nails, then that's all your choice. A wrench can be used as a hammer but there are better tools to use. If you don't open your eyes to other options you are just limiting your own growth.

Do what you wish...it's clear you are going to anyway. Not even sure why you're asking for any kind of advice when you clearly know what you're doing. I love how you're on a forum with tens of 1000's of people who have rebuilt their credit with secured cards but you somehow know better with your Fingerhut account. Fingerhut isn't a bad option if that's your only option (see my signature as proof), but to say it's going to lead you to that Chase Sapphire is just deluding yourself.

Keep up the good work OP! Do whatever works for you. I carried FP and HSBC cards for three years before I graduated to prime cards . It took a while, but I enjoyed the journey on the way! Best of luck in your journey...
