Re: USAA - what's the scoop?

My wife used to bank with them because she lived in San Antonio and they are head quartered there.  We financed our first car (as newly weds) with them and we kept the insurance products, but eventually went with local banks to DFW (BofA because they kept buying up the banks we were with Smiley Happy )

But, back then online banking didn't exist, so I may rethink that....I do most of my finances online now....it's so convenient Smiley Happy

I used to work in the consumer loan dept.  The only pull EQ.

They actually offer a scorewatch type product to their members.

Log on to your accounts and type "scorewatch" in the search box.

I'm sorry about the bad insurance experience.

I'm going to go back to work for them in June in the credit card dept. I will guve ya'll the inside scoop when I can.  Woman Wink

Re: USAA - what's the scoop?

hey, we got an insider at USAA! Smiley Happy

scottie_mommy, appreciate the info.

Seems like all the CU / membership orgs like EQ.  Alliant and PenFed both pull EQ exclusively also.

scottie - what was the criteria for loans with USAA?  Were there definite Do's and Don'ts that you could share?

Also, how bad of a grudge do they hold for those who had a baddie experience with their CC 10 years ago and settled for less than owed?

Re: USAA - what's the scoop?

I double checked and they seem to pull experian for all their products. My issue with USAA is their auto insurance. I lost my job and I have called and emailed them to skip a payment on my auto insurance  for a month so that way I will just pay two months premium next month. I was told that they will go ahead and do that. My insurance is due on the 15th and when I checked my account they went ahead and tried to charge me my monthly premium anyways, they saw that there was no money but they went ahead and did it anyway. When the funds bounced they did it again, slapping me with 2 overdraft fees. They did this again two weeks later, twice, so right now I am sitting on $116 worth of overdraft fees. I am going to get on  the phone and sort this out witht them to have the overdrafts taken out as we had an agreement, if they refuse I will close all of my accounts. I know this sounds extreme but I have been giving them so much money from all the products that I have to be given such poor service. I have an auto loan, personal loan, credit card, savings, checking cd, auto and renters insurance.

BTW, credit where its due. They do have a credit score watch from experian via third party company for only $5.50 a month, they will send you alerts and you can refresh your profile daily to check for updates.

Re: USAA - what's the scoop?

This one must be a geographic issue. All my hard inquiries have been on Equifax (EQ), not Experian (EX.)

But all my softs have been on Experian.
