This is an unofficial survey for anyone who has received a CLI without requesting one. I'm mainly curious about your spending habits that have warranted your lenders giving you more credit.
Up until six or so months ago, I was in the trap of making only the minimum payments on all my cards, with them always being maxed out. I have now had ~1% util for four months running, and I PIF several times a month on one card to ensure I don't get in too deep again. I do use my CCs for pretty much all my purchases and bills, only using the money in my bank account to pay my CC off.
I have yet to receive an auto CLI ever, nor do I expect to anytime soon given my recent history, but I just got my first CLI manually on two of my cards.
What is your experience / spending habits on cards you've received CLI without asking? I know different lenders will look at different things, i.e. Income, util, AAoA, but maybe also number of swipes and or % of CL used each month? Is there anyone who has gotten a CLI on a card that they only use to autopay one bill a month, just to keep it active, even if it's a very small one proportionally to their CL?
I've seen similar questions before, and I've read Veni, Vidi, Vinci, Visa, among many, many other threads, but no one that I can find has ever gone into much detail on spending habits that lenders seem to like.
I think if enough people who have had an auto-CLI chime in, we'd be able to see trends for particular CCs / lenders?

Both my Cap1 cards have given auto, unasked-for CLIs. But only like $1000 at a time, and very few and far between. My biggest CLIs have come from instigating it. Since 2005, I think my Quicksilver has auto bumped it three times. Come to think of it, that's roughly once every three years but not sure it's a pattern.
No problem, but if you want a CLI why not use the love button online? At least with Cap1, it's only a soft pull, and with your 1% util I think you might get a fat bump (like I did last month from $900 to $5900). Your other cards might do similar with a phone call asking for a soft pull CLI, from what I've read here.
I wouldn't say there's a pattern to my spending.. unless for the last 5 years or so it was carrying a balance. Sometimes pretty high. Only recently have I begun to PIF (and by Full I mean "most" of it - leaving $15 to $40 to keep it warm). I'd say my behavior was pretty random, but almost always a balance of some kind.
Again, thank you for the response. My Cap1 is the Platinum Credit Steps, so I won't see any luv until the 7th statement. I did get some manual luv from Best Buy, from 300 to 750, and BofA from 500 to 3000, which is a huge 6x increase. I'm more curious about the auto luv.
Sounds like you use your cards pretty heavily though, for most everyday purchases, bills, etc. Good to know.
You might want to structure the thread so that responses would be easier to read.

Thank you! I'll try that...
Discover
1 year this month
Averaging between 100 to 800 a month on it. PIF some months. Some months carried a balance. Current balance $540. Initial cl 2500, every 3 months an increase. Just got a year anniversary increase of 300 to a now cl of 3750.
Discover is the best card for auto cli. I love my Discover. I'm going to be charged interest soon, so I need to pay it off. Out of all my cards, I prefer my discover, even though I have other cards with a higher CL and lower APR.

Util: % I think it's at about 4%
My card started as secured in early 2011. I had a 300 limit, they eventually unsecured it after a year and refunded my deposit. 6 months later they upped my to $500, auto CLI, then $700, auto, then $1100, and now $1700, all auto CLI. They seem to like (after the initial year) givinng me increases every 120 days which is awesome!
I primarily use the card online, but do make one trip a month to the store and spend about $20. I don't need to spend much, I mainly just pay for my hobbies on it or buy a book or 2.
I'm frugal but consistent, and they seem to like that. If the pattern holds true I hope to get another CLI in late June.BTW, I PIF every month.
