Hi,
I have a Capital One card that has an annual fee of $59 (due Aug 5). Just wondering with all the new laws and changes if it's possible to still get a waiver on annual fees. I got one last year with this same card with no problem but didn't know if times have changed.
Do you think they will do it again? I have no balance on the card other than this fee which makes me a little nervous to call them and ask for a waiver. Last year I had a balance.
Thanks in advance!
Thank you for answering my posts. I called and spoke with a Sr. Account Specialist and she gave me the waiver. She noted that I've never been late, never been over the limit, always pay more than the minimum payment, and currently do not have a balance. Woo Hoo!!!! I can put the $59 back in my "spending money" column for the month!
I have two Cap1 cards, and got it waived on one and not the other. So for me, its 50%
mine's coming up in september, but it's $39. i don't mind paying it, though. they have been much better to me than orchard, which has me at a lower CL (even though it's my oldest card) & a $59 AF.
I wanted to bring this old topic back up in case it can helpsomeone else out.
I got a fee waiver again this year for my CapOne annual fee ($59) with no problems. Just called them up and asked to speak to an Acct. Supervisor. I've had the card for 8 yrs and never had a late or over-the-limit.
HTH!
*I had been thinking about getting rid of this card since I don't use it (low CL $500, high APR 17.90%) but I guess I'll keep it as long as they keep waiving my annual fee.

You might consider asking them to convert it to a no-AF card.

Thanks. I hadn't considered that yet. Will that require a hard pull? I'm trying to stay away from inquiries.

Dunno... you can ask them if it's a hard pull, but beware; I've heard of banks sometimes saying no hard pull and then doing it anyway. Not all CSR's understand credit.
My annual fee hit on my latest statement also.. Called an spoke to a rep who waived $30 out of the $59 annual fee. Didn't ask for anything further as last year I battled all the way to a Sr. Account specialist and got no where. I've had the card for 9 years and it's hit an miss whether I have gotten it waived or not.

Wow that is very high! May I ask which card this is?
Mine is a Plat MC that I got a year out of BK..started with a $250 limit and its now $2350. I don't really use it, but since it is my oldest reporting tradeline I'm sticking with it for now.
