Using Citi Forward and Chase Amazon Points

So I recently got approved for both the Chase Amazon Visa and the Citi Forward Student card, and am waiting to receive them in the mail.  The main reason I got both of these cards is the rewards for spending on Amazon, and the ability to spend your rewards points directly on Amazon.

From what I've gathered, Citi Forward is 5x points for bookstores (i.e. Amazon.com), and Chase Amazon is 3x.

I know that for the Chase Amazon card, once you link your card for redemption on Amazon , 100 points = $1, 1 point = $0.01, etc.  so that's pretty straight forward.

I also saw that you can link your Citi ThankYou points for redemption on Amazon, but the details available to me online were a bit scarce.

Does anyone know if it would be possible to combine the points of the Chase card AND the Citi card for one particular purchase?  It seems unlikely, since I feel you could only select one card at a time.

Sorry if this is confusing, just trying to make sense of the rewards structures.

Goal Scores: 720+ (Experian Lender Pull 09/13): 733; Discover TU (01/14): 751; Walmart TU08 (02/14): 754;
WF Platinum (10/12) $1,600; WM Discover (12/12) $5,500; Amazon GE (12/12) $2,500; CapOne Quicksilver (12/12) $750; Discover IT (01/13) $1,000; Chase Amazon (02/13) $2,500; Citi Forward Student (02/13) $2,000; AMEX BCE (09/13) $15,000

No you can't. You can only apply points to your order from the credit card that you choose unfortunately. Citi TY points are 0.8 cents if you use the Pay with points on amazon. So really it's 4% for Citi Forward and 3% for Chase.

I've also been told, but never tried this, that for Chase Amazon you can also take your points as a statement credit. In theory this is ever so slightly better than pay with points, because you earn points on the full purchase value, not just the leftover amount after points are applied. Doing some math, I believe this way will get you 3.1%, so uh not a huge deal imo.

PNC Points Visa $3.3k (5/09), Amex PRG NPSP (9/10), Amex BCP $19.7k (10/12), Chase Amazon $4.8k (10/12), Citi Forward $7.5k (11/12), Chase Southwest RR Premier $8k (3/13), Discover it $4.3k (11/13), Citi Double Cash $18k (PC'd 9/16 from AA Executive 7/15), Chase CSR $12.2k (9/16)

Re: Using Citi Forward and Chase Amazon Points

I use Citi Forward for student loan payments because that gets me 1:1 point ratio and puts a dent in my debt rather than helping me spend more on video games from Amazon Smiley Happy
