that's what I do , after I write my 3 checks(House, Utilities,food) and check to the church, I upload what's left to emigrant and pay my credit cards from emigrant
I have only four credit credits only 3 I'm using , I can have upto 6 ACH debits per month, so what's the problem, Wamu isn't respondisable for people money managment or lack there of, I would just included a waning in smartpay terms that if a savings or money market payment is declined to excessive withrawls you held responsiable

you could link up an ING or Emigrant bank savings acct to your checking and the interest rates are much higher.
