WFNND - Credit Ap askes for Existing Credit Card Number

GA All,

Yesterday I applied for a WFNNB Eddie Bauer Card.  The application askes me to input an existing Visa or Master Card number.  Why do they need that data?  If i give them a card with a long history or high credit line, will that affect my CL with them?

Re: WFNND - Credit Ap askes for Existing Credit Card Number

When I was looking at what the Crate and Barrel CC could offer I saw on their WFNNB site that they require a CC to apply.

Okay -- found the link and the reason:

Q.  Why do you ask for my major credit card information on the application?
A.   WFNNB is not a first-time credit grantor. A verifiable credit reference presents proof of established credit. Ensuring that a valid credit reference is used, in addition to an individual's personal information, also provides additional security when applying for a Crate & Barrel Credit Card Account.

LOL nope.  I was trying to find a 10% off deal in there somewhere -- I'd need SOME good incentive to have another WFNNB acct.  I have a 1.9k CL with them on my Victoria's Secret acct, but the furniture I'm looking to buy is going to end up around 3k and I'm not sure I could get that with them.  As it stands I normally only spend a couple hundred dollars there a year.  I can't quite justify the card if I'm not getting a huge discount.
