My new Wal-Mart CC has a pitiful limit of $150. I called the escalated help desk and asked for a recon of the credit limit. He told me that he would be happy to try for me but warned me that it would mean another inquary on my CR and that he has never seen a CLI approved before 4 months of history. So, he convinced me not to waste an INQ and to ask for a CLI in 4 months. Is this sound advice or should I try another way to recon my inital credit limit?
His advice specifically was to wait until after my fourth statement was recieved and payment posts against that forth statement before requesting a CLI.

follow the advice.... use the card, pay on time, they may give you an auto-CFI if not request it after the fourth statement, they are very good with CLI's
It sounds like the rep knew what he was talking about, so I'd take his advice. From what I've heard, GE is pretty generous with CLIs, but you do have to wait a few months first.
You got lucky. The CSR was actually knowledgeable and not reading off of a script. Many people call CCCs and ask for CLIs and many CSRs don't know the difference between a SP and HP and then end up with a HP and no CLI.
I would agree with everything said here previously. I got my GE Walmart store card in January with $300 limit. In March it has surprisingly jumped up to $1200 without any actions on my side (4x CLI!) and a couple of days ago I asked another CLI to $2400 through their automated phone system but was counter-offered with a CLI up tp $2000 (which is also nice as I anyway don't plan to use this card too much , but want to have it for 1) free TU score every month 2) aaoa (it is one of my oldest accounts so far) and 3) overall util level)
Good luck with your card!
YES, Listen to him. People in here with those limits have been reporting getting auto CLI after 2 or 3 months too. Definitely 4 months though.
yep, i been braggin about my cli this past week... mine went from $500 to $900... it's only been 2 statements... and it was auto increase
