Earlier today, my dad attempted to get $100 using the cash back feature. His purchase went through, but the cashier told him that the cash was denied. Then later, I attempted to use my Walmart card to buy groceries. This cashier told me that the system was telling her that my account number was invalid. So my mom (an authorized user on my account) used hers to no avail. This time the cashier manually entered the card number into the register and it cleared.
So... are these two incidents related or what the heck's going on here? My dad had enough credit on his card for the cash, and there is no problem with my account. Both my card and my dad's card are in good standing with Synchrony (we both got CLIs just this week). There are no lates or problems on our end. I just find this to be so strange.
That happened to me once also. I was attempting to get cash back (can't remember how much). The purchase when through fine, but I was denied cash back. Still don't know why. I had never been denied before. I haven't attempted since. I meant to call and ask why, but it fell off my radar.
Yeah I figured it's just the bank being finicky about turning over cold hard cash. It's not a big deal really, my dad just wanted a little extra money for his Saturday afternoon.
It happened to me a couple of months ago.
