To start with the Discover version you need good-excellent credit, When I got my Walmart card my TU score was 703 and still was given the store version I also had an GE Amazon card that was over 6 months old so I had an existing relationship with no late payments on any credit cards.

I agree with james that you should need at least 700 to get the Discover, at least 630 with no recent baddies for store.
my tu 08 from walmart was 738 and tu98 was 708 and did not get the discover. but at that point my aaoa already dropped in half.
but i did get an 800 starting limit.
when i get back home (sep1st) ill look at my score was when i applied.
it was my last app in my spree as we call them.

My WalMart TU score is 761, I still just have the store card version and have had my WalMart card since '08. No need for the Discover IMO, since I already have IT. Don't need another new tradeline floating around anyway.
kudos to marinevietvet for making this its own thread. i wasnt expecting that.

I started at $800 w Wmt store card too back in 2010, scores were like 650 FICO 08 TU :-)
what's your limit now?
i just saw alot of people posting them getting 2/300 dollar limits.
well glad you got that.
by the next time all my cards report i can get into the 1-7 percent.
kohls, ae, mc, best buy, and macys all reported balances, even though they were paid. sigh.
since then ive paid off all cards but best buy.
still using the freedom but going to pif before statement cuts and just use debit for a little until everything reports right.
